The guides of our city welcome you cordially at Heppenheim/Bergstrasse.
We invite you to come to know with us our small city during a special
sightseeing.
Many years ago, already the Romans stayed here in our
region. We owe to them the so called Strada Montana. Later on, this street
became one for long-distance trade, and even to-day its run is marked.
Since decades, the „Strada Montana“ enraptures its visitors time and again.
With its season of almond- and peach blossom Germany here starts to turn
into Italy already said and thought a great many people…
Heidelberg, Ladenburg, Worms, the monastery of Lorsch (UNESCO World
culture herency), Bensheim, Zwingenberg, Jugenheim, Darmstadt, Frankfurt,
but also the Odenwald – all these places were and still are of importance
for the county town Heppenheim/Bergstrasse.

At the Bergstrasse, autumn presents its extreme richness in colour.
While the wintagers are engaged in the vintage, at stubble-fields
children are flying kites.
We, the city-guides, are preparing us for the contemplative time which
is already slowly approaching. During our guidances on customs we take a
different view at a great many of forgotten traditions. To our regret, many
people do not know about the original significations of customs, symbols and
colours.

These are only a few examples of our entertaining Christmas guidance. Be
surprised which exciting things still exist. For children and school classes
we offer very special guidances. Please ask for them.

We take pleasure to present us to you.
We are a community of interests of city-guides of Heppenheim, formed at the
end of 2006 and propagating our own conception.
For a long time, in many cities the guidances are not offered only by
municipal authorities. The fact, Heppenheim now follows, only was a question
of time.
During the last years, wishes and requirements of the visitors have
extremely changed, and the antique guides of  strangers in the meantime have
become up-to-date visitor-guides. The classic kind of guidance often is no
longer sufficient, and also in and around Heppenheim our visitors anticipate
an exceptional guidance. Honorary city-guides can deal with this demand only
to some extent.
In this regard, the city-guides want to enrich the offers of our city by
new conceptions, presenting to the visitors something special.
We are well trained city-guides enlarging our knowledge constantly by
advanced training and schooling, being also certificated by the
“Bundesverband der Gästeführer Deutschlands” (Federal organization of
visitor-guides of Germany). All of us have already some years of experiency
not only at Heppenheim, but also in several cities of the region, knowing
quite good the interests and pleasures of the visitors.
Because of our museum-pedagogic training we have developped an
appropriated conception not only for adults, but also concerning guidances
for children, pleasing them very much.
We would be pleased to guide you across the historical old city of
Heppenhem, dressed with our historical attire, tailored by us according to
ancient designs. Colours, fashions and accessories meet very closely with
the original garments.
Please convince yourself what fun causes strolling across our city,
wearing these garments.

We are sure, having the suitable offer for a gay birthday round, the
special attributes concerning an age-group
meeting, or an extraordinary Christmas party. In the daytime and at
night, causing then a “beautiful shudder” –as we say- are related, for

In historical garments we are guiding you through our old city and its
surroundings, telling you tales and playing, also with your partication,
scenes with historical source. Thus you immerse in epochs passed long ago.

The city seen from an other point of view. The new booklet „ Looking for
traces in Heppenheim – an international stroll across the city“ is informing
about immigration to Heppenheim . Its origin was a cooperation between the
city-archieves of Heppenheim, the person in charge of foreign people for the
district “Bergstrasse” , as well as backed by the female city-guide Ezel
Iser of turquish descent.
